Science Shop engages citizens and civil society organizations in education and research related collaborations, by taking in their questions/requests, and transforming them into course assignments, internships, thesis work or research projects on the university.
Such collaborations serve the community as well as higher education purposes, and create opportunities for mutual learning. As an intermediary and facilitator, Science Shop actively seeks partnership, offer coordination and support when necessary to balance the different knowledges, perspectives and interests.
Experiential, engaged and service learning, community-based teaching and learning, civic engagement, citizen science and participatory action research are the flagship practices that mark the ethical and pedagogical frame of our work, and guide our efforts in building equal partnerships.
The OSUN Science Shop initiative
EHU and CEU runs a two-year pilot initative in Austria, Belarus, Hungary and Lithuania, supported by the Open Society University Network (OSUN), between August 2021 and July 2023. It focuses on stimulating engaged and experiental learning through student projects, embedded in the course curricula.
